Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad | Cedar Point | Sandusky, Ohio.
The Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, is a 36" gauge railway featuring historic, coal-burning steam locomotives. The train ride opened at Cedar Point in 1963.
The railroad makes a 2-mile loop within the park, stopping at Celebration Plaza and Frontier Town. In addition to views of Cedar Point’s rides and roller coasters, the route includes a scenic section overlooking Lake Erie.
The railroad currently has four steam locomotives on its roster:
Locomotive #1 "G.A. Boeckling" is one of the most traveled and legendary theme park steam locomotives. Its journey includes being rebuilt for Great America in Illinois, sold to a private owner in California, traded to Disneyland and then sent to Walt Disney World where it was named "Ward Kimball" and placed on display at Epcot. The locomotive was then traded to Cedar Point for their "Maude L." steam locomotive, later sent to Knott's Berry Farm for restoration, and eventually returned to Cedar Point, where it is now on the operating roster. Notably, the "Maude L." also operates at the Disneyland Railroad as their #5, "Ward Kimball".
