It's August already! Lots of Steam Train Events coming up this month and in early September. Here is a quick rundown -
On the Mainline Steam Page -
Iowa Interstate Chinese built "QJ" will be operating for the first time in a couple of years.
Saturday August 18 - Multiple 45 minute trips from Mitchellville, Iowa.
Sunday August 19 - Multiple 45 minute trips from Brooklyn, Iowa.
Nickel Plate #765 will be fired up and on display in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the FWRHS Open House.
From the Traveling Steam Page - 0-4-0 Tank Engine #85 will be on site and pulling short caboose train rides.
The Open House takes place August 17-19, 2018.
Norfolk & Western "J" #611 will be operating for a series of events from August 31 throughout September at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina. Events range from behind the scenes tours, a special night photography session, museum train rides, and even throttle time with the #611.

Nevada Northern Railway in Ely, Nevada will operate double header excursions for Labor Day Weekend on both September 1 & 2, 2018.
Midwest Central Railroad in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa will operate, as usual, during the annual "Old Threshers Reunion" which takes place from August 30 - September 3, 2018. Midwest Central typically operates 2 steam trains each day of the event. The Midwest Electric Railway, featuring a lovely collection of trolleys and interurbans, also operates at the event.
Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois will present special operations Labor Day Weekend (September 1-3, 2018) with bonus night time train rides on both September 1 & 2, 2018. In addition to the night tim train rides, the various historic signs and signals around the museum property will be illuminated. Steam #1630 operates all 3 days, the Nebreska Zephyr train set operates Sunday and Monday, and the Bi-Level Commuter set operates Sunday only. Each day a collection of historic (and some rare to see operate) electric interurban trains also operates.

Tweetsie Railriad in Blowing Rock, North Carolina will hold their annual Railroad Heritage Weekend on August 25-26, 2018. Special operations include photo-runby special, double-headers, and the opportunity to ride in the historic 1870's wooden coach.
On Traveling Steam Page -
Viscose #6 will be pulling weekend trips at the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum in Rush, NY on August 18-19 & August 25 & 26, 2018.
