Hope everyone is having a great year of Train Chasing! I'm way behind on updating the website as I've had recent visits to -
the Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan where Coal Burning Locomotives the Torch Lake and Edison were operating on the day of my visit.
Norfolk & Western #611 Operating on the former N&W Mainline out or Roanoke Virginia.
Strasburg Railroad's #90 putting on a lovely show as usual in the Amish Farmlands of Pennsylvania.
Nickel Plate #765 Operating on the former Rock Island Mainline from Joliet to Chicago, Illinois.
Southern #4501 and #630 Double Heading from Chattanooga TN to Summerville Georgia.
Nevada State Railroad Museum 4th of July Event featuring 1875 built Wood Burning Steam Locomotives the Glenbrook and the Inyo, plus 1905 built Oil Burning Steam Locomotive #25 and historic Rail Cars.
Plus a few rides on Amtrak's Illinois and Michigan Services.
But enough about the past... on to the future! I've just updated a few pages on the site including "TRAVELING STEAM" - This is where I post information on smaller traveling steam locomotives that visit various Railroads and Museums for special events throughout the year. These are unique, smaller steam locomotives that have quite a bit of charm when they operate. If your kid's like "Thomas the Tank Engine," or like me, you grew up watching Thomas... it's a treat to see these real-life American Tank Engines in operation. Quite a few events are coming up this year so be sure to check out the page and see if one is close enough for a visit.
A Small Update to MAINLINE STEAM includes an appearance of Santa Fe #3751 at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles in July (most likely the last appearance of #3751 under Steam before her FRA Rebuild) and Nickel Plate #765 returning to Ohio for her annual Steam in the Valley Excursions.
I'll be watching for announcements for Special Rail Events and Autumn Leaf Excursions in the second half of 2017 so stay tuned and be sure to Like us on Facebook so you won't miss out on updates.
