Union Pacific Big Boy Steam Locomotive #4014 at the Home Plate in Omaha Nebraska. The Big Boy will return to Omaha in June of 2023 as part of the "Home Run Express"
Union Pacific has announced the "Home Run Express" Excursion featuring the largest operating steam locomotive in the world - Union Pacific #4014 - the "Big Boy"! This locomotive is a standard gauge, 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive originally built for the Union Pacific in 1941 by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO).
For the 2023 Home Run Express, the #4014 will depart it's home in Cheyenne, Wyoming traveling across the state of Nebraska to Omaha where it will be on display at Union Pacific's Home Plate from June 14 - June June 27, 2023 where it will begin the journey back to the roundhouse in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Along the journey, the Big Boy Steam Engine will make "Whistle Stops" - a great opportunity for local towns to celebrate the locomotive.
