Autumn Leaf Steam Excursions

Tennessee Valley Railroad presents a double-header excursion with Southern #4501 and Southern 630 on October 28 and 29, 2017. Baldwin | 1911 & ALCO | 1904.

New Haven #3025, a 2-8-2 coal burning steam locomotive operates on the Essex Steam Train in Connecticut.

"Autumn Leaf Excursions" are an annual tradition for Steam Locomotives and TrainChasers. Since October is here (already!) I encourage everyone to take a look at Steam by State and Traveling Steam schedules. 

Of note - 

Tennessee Valley Railroad in Chattanooga TN operates 100 Mile Steam Powered excursions every Saturday and some Sundays in October and early November from Chattanooga TN to Summerville GA. Motive power will be Southern #4501 and on October 28 and 29th, 2017, a double header will feature Southern #4501 and Southern #630. 

Steamtown in Scranton PA operates a special extended steam-powered excursion to Carbondale PA on October 9, 2017. Other extended excursions will depart from Steamtown with historic diesels. 

Steam Railroad Institute in Owosso MI will operate a Steam Excursion from Alma MI to Owosso on October 28, 2017 with famous Steam Locomotive #1225. 

Reading & Northern Railroad will operate 125 Mile Round trip Fall Foliage Steam Excursions from Reading PA to Jim Thorpe PA pulled by Steam Locomotive #425. Excursions operate on October 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th in 2017. October 14th is a Railfan Special with no diesel assistance and open air cars.  Additional excursions operate with Diesel and RDC Cars. 

Sumpter Valley Railroad in Baker City, Oregon, presents a Fall Photographers Weekend October 14 and 15th, 2017. Steam Powered Fall Colors also operates on October 13th 2017. 

Two Rivers Steam Special is a unique round trip charter over 3 different railroads featuring both steam and diesel power and lots of rare mileage.
The train departs Worcester and Putnam, Connecticut and travels over the Providence and Worcester Railroad to Groton for a brief run over the Amtrak Northeast Corridor line to Old Saybrook where the Valley Railroad's Steam Locomotive #3025 will be waiting to lead the train over the entire operational trackage of the Valley Railroad with a photo run-by planned. The train operates one day only, on October 28th 2017.
