Steamtown National Historic Site has posted photos and video of Baldwin #26 under steam in Scranton PA after completing a total rebuild in the Steamtown Shops which included a new firebox and repairs to the wheels, cylinder, and tender. This restoration took several years, and lots of work by a dedicated and skilled crew.
Baldwin #26 was built in 1929 by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone PA. It is an 0-6-0 steam locomotive that was built by Baldwin and remained at the Baldwin Locomotive Works for switching duties. Since Baldwin built most of their locomotives to be sold to other railroads, this makes #26 a very unique locomotive. Steamtown has stated they plan to use the locomotive to pull their "Scranton Limited" short train rides, so we will watch for a steam schedule for this locomotive in 2016.
