As of today, January 11, the Disneyland Railroad in California is now closed for all of 2016. Why? Well Disneyland is beginning a massive construction for it's new Star Wars attractions and in order to make room, the Disneyland Railroad will have to alter it's course! The portion of the route that will be relocated is between New Orleans Square Station and Toontown Station. This portion of the route currently follows the "Rivers of America" but during construction a portion of the "Rivers of America" will be filled in to allow more land available for the new Star Wars Land. The new route will follow the new banks of the Rivers of America and then turn Left (A rare left turn for the Disneyland Railroad!) in order to meet up with it's current route. Want to see what the new route will look like? Check out Disney's Beautiful Concept Artwork by Visiting the Official Disney Parks Blog by clicking - HERE During Construction, Disneyland Guests will be able to see and photograph some of the steam locomotives on display at Main Street Station, and New Orleans Square Station where Disneyland Railroad Engineers will be available to chat with guests Guests as well. Currently, the rumor I've heard suggests the Disneyland Railroad will reopen to guests in Spring of 2017. If you are visiting the Anaheim Area this year, and would like to ride behind steam, don't forget Knott's Berry Farm is just down the road, and they will be operating their Ghost Town and Calico Railroad using vintage narrow gauge steam locomotives from the Denver and Rio Grande Western. Check out our Page - THEME PARK STEAM - for a complete list of operating steam locomotives at theme parks across the USA. |
