MTA and the New York City Transit Museum will be offering "Heritage Rides" on the New York City Subway System 6th Avenue Line every Sunday in December. The Vintage heritage cars are usually on display at the New York City Transit Museum, but during the Holiday Season they operate on a "Shoppers Special." What's even better is there is no extra charge, the normal NYC Subway Fare is all it takes! The subway cars operating will be from various vintages, dating all the way back to the 1920's. I've personally visited the museum, and taken a ride on one of the Heritage Ride andTours that the museum operates each summer. These cars are a joy to ride and part of the fun is seeing the fellow passengers and hearing their stories of riding, and in some cases, working on this historic equipment. The “Shoppers Special” will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 6, 13, 20, and 27, making local stops on the 6 Av Line from Queens Plaza to 2 Av. The first run of the day departs from 2 Av, where a special museum pop-up shop will be open every Sunday during the holiday nostalgia rides.
