Sadly, the only operating Steam Train Operation in the state of Florida, (outside of the theme parks), and one of the only operating wood burning steam locomotives, will be leaving it's home for the past 6 years in Mt. Dora, Florida. A Press Release issued on the Orange Blossom Cannonball Website reads "The Orange Blossom Cannonball will be leaving Lake County January 31, 2017 with the last trains scheduled for Sunday, January 29, 2017. All Saturday trains will feature steam power with the exception of Saturday, January 21. In celebration of No. 2 Locomotive’s 110th anniversary and to express our appreciation for almost 6 great years of serving the communities of Tavares and Mt. Dora, the Tavares, Eustis and Gulf steam locomotive No. 2 will head up the trains on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, January 27-29, 2017." I rode the Orange Blossom Cannonball once, during it's first year of operation and really enjoyed the experience. The Steam Locomotive, #2, was built by Baldwin in 1907. I'm hoping to catch it during it's last month if possible. I will be sad to take this one off the Steam by State Page after January.
